Andrew Salgado
Andrew Salgado was born in Canada but transplanted himself to London in 2008 where he has been working diligently to produce some of the best art I have seen in awhile. He has a style all his own but there are traces of artists that came before him like Chuck Close, George Braque, and the later works of Henri Matisse (all favorites of mine). Like those important names in art history, Andrew is making a name for himself with solo shows all over the world, curating other shows, and even collaborating with Dutch fashion house RAINS to release a line of luxury togs. If you're lucky enough to see one of his pieces in person, I envy you. I've only been able to see them via the interwebs. If you own one of Andrew's works, I really really envy you. It's going to be worth a pretty penny one day. I love what I have seen of this artist and I can't wait to see more. See archives of his work and an in depth bio with listings of his shows here: http://www.andrewsalgado.com/ Also, Andrew was the subject of a documentary that premiered in May called Storytelling in which Cassidy Uggla and Adam Fletcher followed him for four months as he prepared for a show in London in 2014.
