Callahan's Pub & Grille

I went to Enid, Oklahoma to see a long time friend of mine get married to a short time friend of mine. They are both awesome and I wish them ages of happiness. After the wedding, my wife and I went and looked around the campus of the former Phillips University. Now it's something else but I don't care. I got some nostalgic snapshots of old places and reminiscent about college. Then, as usual when I'm walking around too much, I got hungry.
I got out my handy dandy phone and looked to see what was close by. As I've said before, I'm not a fan of corporate restaurants so I quickly skipped over those. Scrolling down, I found Callahan's and I may or may not have made the noise that Scooby Doo makes when he finds a clue. We drove post-haste over to Independence Street and spotted the place. It was right across the street from the theater where I saw my first movie, The Fox & The Hound. Now, it's a live theatre which is very cool. SUPPORT LOCAL THEATRE!!! After another moment of memory flood, we went into the Pub and found a booth tucked away in the corner. The place was packed. That's usually a good sign. Ashley brought us menus and took our drink order. When she came back I notice her awesome elephant tattoo. It may have been Ganesha, but I didn't want to be too nosy. Anyway, we ordered and the food came out pretty quickly. We decided to go full Bourdain and order a few things and split them. We had the Pub Burger, The Queso Burger (Both sans buns by our choice), salad, fries and Jameson's. I have a strange weakness for shepherd's pie which was on the menu. I wanted to get it, but I was really in the mood for this burger. I'll get the pie next time I'm in town.
Long story short, the place was amazing. The food was fantastic and Ashley was a great waitress. There isn't much more you could want from a restaurant. The bill came and it wasn't ridiculously pricey. All of what we had was about twenty-five bucks. Not bad at all.
If you ever find yourself in Enid for any reason, make it a point to go downtown and raise a glass at Callahan's. You can find them at 220 N. Independence in Enid, America. If you need to see what they're all about before you go, you can check out their website at www.callahanspublichouse.com. Sláinte!!
