Diego Fazio (DiegoKoi)
When I was a senior in high school, a baby was being born in Italy. Who knew that years later, he would end up being my Artist of the Month? I certainly had no idea, but here we are. Diego Fazio is a self-taught artist that has gain notoriety in many art circles for his incredibly hyper-realistic drawings. He started his artistic career by recreating drawings of Japanese tattoos that he had found. One of his favorite subjects was the koi that turns into a dragon. He became so good at drawing these koi fish that he took on the moniker of Diego Koi. As his drawing style developed, he began to explore human subjects. He started simply with only the eyes and lips. Eventually, he would be drawing entire figures and intricate faces that you'll see below. He has had exhibits and won awards and they are well deserved. While I completely enjoy his photo-realistic drawings, I also enjoy the playfulness of the unreal that he inserts into some of his works. If you would like to see more you can visit diegokoi.it. If you would like to purchase prints of his work, he is on the Deviant Art Website at diegokoi.deviantart.com. I hope you're as amazed by his work that I have been. Keep in mind that these are all pencil drawings. Enjoy.
