Godeval Godello 2015

I've been in the wine business a long time. I've probably tried a few barrel's worth of wines. But even with as many wines as I've had, I still haven't had every varietal that there is. I'm sure there's some cool guy that has done it, but I'm not there yet. One of the varietals that I hadn't tried was a Godello. When I saw this one in the inventory of my distributor, I added one to the cart and sent the order. When it came in, I was a little more excited than I thought I would be. I took it home, popped it in the fridge, and waited for it to chill. Finally, I grabbed it and opened it. What I discovered about this Spanish wine was it was similar to a few other wine varietals from around the world. To me, it has a taste that could be described as a cross between a Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux and a Sauvignon Blanc from the California coast. It has the depth of the French with the lightness of Cali. What that basically means is you can enjoy this wine with salads, chicken, burgers, or by itself while you sit on the patio waiting for the kiddie pool to fill up. Enjoy!
