Javier Marin

There are places all over the world that have art out in the open air so people can experience it everyday. They don't have to go to a gallery or museum to see the beauty of someone's imagination. One of the artists that has sculptures in a lot of great places is Javier Marin. Javier was born in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico and you can see that upbringing in the faces of his sculptures. As he studied art in Mexico, he found that he favored clay and began making visages that resembled his countrymen and women. Through trial and error, Javier has expanded his love of clay to include sculptures made of bronze, polyester resin and resins infused with organic materials like seeds, flowers, and even dried meat. Whatever the creative means, the end result is magnificent. I lived in San Antonio for a long time and, while I was there, I picked up some of the Spanish language. Even so, I'm still a gringo so I didn't label any of these photos with their titles or group name. You can find those on his website and I won't embarrass myself by accidentally calling one of his works by the wrong name. Enjoy these works below and view some more works and these works from different angles at http://javiermarin.com.mx/. Me gusta!
