Killer Drop Red Blend
Normally, I'm a bit stand offish with crazy wine labels. I know I shouldn't be, but it's a knee jerk reaction left over from my wine snob days. When I got this bottle of Killer Drop Red in, I was skeptical. I wanted to believe it was good. I want all wines to be good. But sometimes the marketing is way better than the wine is. That is not the case with Killer Drop Red. I opened this bottle, poured a glass, and took a whiff of the deep red juice. It was like smelling twenty glasses of wine that had magically been condensed down to one glass. To put it lightly, it was heavy. HA! I tasted the wine and it was possibly the most dense and flavor packed wine I have had in years. My first thoughts were, "Damn. That's a lot of Petite Sirah." I looked it up on line and it does have Petite Sirah blended with Syrah, Zinfandel, and Grenache. I drank about a half a glass and poured another one. This time, I let it sit for awhile to open up and smooth out a bit. I have nothing bad to say about it. It was gorgeous...if a wine can be gorgeous. Not sure. But what I thought next was, "I need to find something to pair this with." Unfortunately, the only thing I had in my house was Baked Lays and Jif crunchy peanut butter. So I just drank the wine. You thought I was going to eat peanut butter covered chips didn't you? Bleh! When I get this wine again, and I will get it again, I'm going to plan out a meal of flavor packed cheeses and smoked meats. I think it would go quite nicely with this wine.
