Marion Costentin
As I've said a million times...and I never exaggerate...I love finding great artists that I've never seen before. To discover a talent that I wasn't expecting to find is like finding an original pressing of Miles Davis's Kind of Blue LP in an old antique store for three dollars. It's simply a wonderful experience. I was perusing a site that I've found that I quite enjoy called Saatchi Art. They host artists and their collections so that you can support them directly. You can purchase these artist's pieces quite easily through the site. I was snooping around when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but the lovely Marion Costentin's impressive artwork. I was instantly drawn into the play of light and shadow, black and white, woman and nature. Her work often has a haunting beauty that seems to be an anguished moment in time trapped on the paper. Other times, it is a woman's figure posed to reflect deep feelings that she possibly just can't talk about. I checked Marion's bio to find out a bit about her. She was born in France about the time I was a sophomore in high school. She has since moved to Berlin, but she still shows her work in her native country now and then. In her own words, her art deals with passion, pain, heartache, beauty, and nature pulled from the experiences of being a woman. I hope that she continues to find galleries to support her art. If you would like to see or purchase any of her works, it is as easy as going to see her pages at www.saatchiart.com/marioncostentin and her own personal site marioncostentin.com or become one of her patrons for as little as $3 a month www.patreon.com/marioncostentin
