M & M Bistro - Joplin, Missouri
Food. I love it. I love not eating the same thing day after day. I’m afraid if I was on a desert island and only had crabs and coconuts to eat, I would go insane. Being alone I could deal with. No cuisine variety, no. Luckily for me I don’t travel by boat on the open seas so I’ll never have to deal with that.
I don’t have far to drive to get to Joplin, Missouri so I go there as often as I can. It has quite a few tasty restaurants and I haven’t been to them all yet, so I have a lot to look forward to. One place the fam and I went recently is M & M Bistro. Upon entering the front door, it has that rustic look that you might imagine when you think of a restaurant that serves Mediterranean food. We sat down and a wonderfully kind man that turned out to be the owner brought us menus and took our drink order. We all looked over the selections and couldn’t decide what we wanted. Sometimes a restaurant’s offerings make you think, “Well, which one of these things won’t kill me?” M & M Bistro’s menu had me indecisive because I wanted it all. The man came back to take our order but we weren’t ready yet. I thought that the herb potatoes appetizer sounded good, so I ordered that while I finished deciding. They came out and were thinly sliced potatoes with a hint of olive oil and herbs on them. We finally ordered and started munching on the potatoes. They were simple and quite delicious. Our entrées came out and they looked as good as my brain had envisioned them. I ordered the chicken Marsala, my wife had the gyro sandwich, and my daughter ordered the lasagna. We all dug in and didn’t talk much except to say “Mm” and “Good”. Each of us sampled the other’s meals and everything was very tasty. We all polished off our dinners and sat talking for a while. I remembered dessert was an option so I told the man that we would have one baklava and one crème brulee. He soon returned with our desserts which were every bit as good as our dinners had been. Overall, M & M Bistro was top notch. We plan on making return visits whenever we can. For those that prefer vegetarian options, they’ve got you covered. In fact, the ratatouille is at the top of my list for my next visit. Go see them in downtown Joplin at 407 S. Main St. They have their menu posted on their Facebook page if you want to check it out before you go. That way you’re not as indecisive as I was when I was there. www.facebook.com/MMBistro.LLC
