Tom Shropshire
If you don't know it already, I do a lot of web surfing looking for artists whose work really speaks to me. Out of a hundred websites, I may find one or two that I thoroughly enjoy. That's not a great track record. As is my policy, I will not say negative things about those artists that I don't find appealing. I will, however, focus on the positive and tell you I positively like the work of Tom Shropshire. (Did you catch that cheesy pun?) Tom has been an artist from an early age. He was born in Milwaukee and fell in love with the sparkle of cities at night, downpours of rain, mythic stories, and the way some towns just have an impressionistic quality about them. One of my favorite things to do is to venture out into a city at night. In the right town, a whole new crop of interesting people come out to work and play. For me, Tom's artwork captures the excitement of being in a city when the sun goes down. He captures the people, the lights, the energy, and sometimes even the rain. I love rain, so seeing these cityscapes occasionally blurred by the presence of fog or a rainstorm only adds to my love for his works. He has even delved into the world of what I lovingly refer to as pulp fiction cover art. In a time when gumshoes and dames ruled the pages of dime store novels, Tom has been able to paint homages to that era with great results. I'm so glad that I found Tom's artwork. I hope you like it as much as I do. See more of his work at shropshireart.com
